GIS Data Engineer (Territorial Data Scraping & Mapping)

We are seeking a skilled GIS Data Engineer to execute a pilot project involving territorial data scraping, structuring, and mapping within the Rumuigbo community, Rivers State, Nigeria.

The goal is to extract, clean, and organize street-level geographic and business data from both Google Maps APIs and OpenStreetMap (OSM) to form the foundation for a Bigtable-style territorial data model.

This project focuses on the collection and structuring of data only — no analytics or visualization required.

Eligibility:

Strong knowledge of Python for data extraction and processing.

Experience with Google Maps APIs (Places, Roads, Geocoding) and OpenStreetMap APIs (Overpass API, OSMnx).

Familiarity with GIS data formats (CSV, GeoJSON, Shapefile, PBF).

Understanding of coordinate systems and geospatial precision (WGS84).

Experience with data cleaning, deduplication, and integration.

Optional: Experience using PostgreSQL/PostGIS or spatial databases.

Salary Range: 800.00 - 7500.00
